Hello. Before anything else, deep thanks to those who remembered me today, very sweet of you.
Above is an image of my orchid in bloom, been watching it since it sprouted and felt very proud when the first opened.Thought I'd share.
Also, just finished reading Arena (hooked on this mag now) and they featured an article called Mr. Bright Side. The author, Laurence Shorter spent two years searching for the secrets of optimism. Those who are had 3 things in common, "...find a reality larger than your own small self, accept things as they are-not as you think they should be, and take command of your own reactions. (Shorter, 72-73, 2009)."
Easier said than done. But, yes, turning a year older has made me think that's its not all about me, there is a larger divinity with all of us in it. Accepting things as they are, yes, but please, don't pretend bad times don't happen. And reaction control? VERY KEY. As we all know reactions elicit behavior, so if we don't want vicious cycles ...
Last, the article spoke of a simple exercise that helps in optimism. Be grateful for 3 things before going to bed. So here I am, grateful for more than 3 things in my life, especially today. And if you're reading this, you're one of them.
